It's also a natural human condition. We spend our lifetimes reading, experimenting, and working hard to learn new things. When the next generation comes along with fresh, new ideas - most of which are not as good as the old ones - they reject most of what has been learned and start all over again. The things I should have learned from Mom and Dad would have made me much smarter than I am today, and not a day goes by that I don't regret all the learning I missed out on.
Every generation needs to find its own way in the world - I get that. And even though the "believe-in-your-elders" method doesn't seem to work very well, we all need to keep trying.
