Water

The minimum required flow rate is 2.5 gpm, continuous over 24 hours. There are two wells on the property and neither is individually capable of meeting that requirement, but the combination of the two might.

Several possibilities exist below in priority order:

Project

  1. Test the two existing wells in tandem and hope the total qualifies.
    1. Pull pumps in both wells (otherwise need to be sealed)
    2. Repair or replace as needed
    3. Pump both simultaneously before contacting DEH
    4. $2000- $3000 – 2 months completion
      .
  2. Add the existing but unused third well located on 558-08-119 to the other two to reach the limit.
    1. Pull pump & repair (currently shorted winding)
    2. Measure depth accurately and set pump at 20 ft above
    3. Pump independently (24 hr)
    4. $2000 – 1 month completion
      .
  3. Petition SJW to allow one of the approved connections for this use
    • Review cost benefit first
    • No cost – 3 to 6 months completion
      .
  4. Dedicate an existing well on 558-08-119 and replace that one with one of the SJW connections.
    • Review cost benefit first
    • No cost – no further delay over current 3-4 months completion
      .
  5. Engage existing shared-well agreement and drill on 558-08-147
    1. 4 parcels (3 after combining 095/096 = 50% of cost)
    2. Better probability of yielding well (7.5 gpm min)
    3. Half of $80,000 to $100,000 – 6 months completion
      .
  6. Drill a new, much deeper well on the property.
    • Should be last resort – multiple (5 or more) marginal wells in this area
    • $50,000 to $75,000 – 3 months completion
