22217½ Old Santa Cruz
It is well known that Charles McKiernan (Mountain Charlie build many roads throughout the Santa Cruz Mountains in the middle of the 19th Century. The most remembered one today is what is now known as Old Santa Cruz Highway in parts, Glenwood Hwy in other parts, and Mt Charlie Road in yet other parts. Its exact location is probably available to ardent historians, but this writing should not be thought of as one of the historical records. Rather, it is my estimate of what most likely transpired with the roadway at the corner of Old Santa Cruz Hwy and Mountain Charlie Road, over the past 170 years or so, accounting for some uncertainty with property ownership there today.
