The Santa Cruz Mountain area is home to enough natural fire hazards without adding man-made ones. This one, purposely created by an unthinking[i]Substitute at your choosing, uncaring, dumb, dim-wit, etc. property owner purposely stacking dry brush next to his fence along Mt. Charlie Road, is a classic example of what this area does not need.  The property is located on the west side of the road, near the corner of Summit Road and Hwy 17.

  • Detailed Report

The San Jose address appears to be a rich collection of dead water heaters, spare carpets, a lumber pile, and miscellaneous other used construction materials. His neighbors in this otherwise nice neighborhood, no doubt, have similar feelings as we mountain residents.

We made initial contact with local fire officials at a community meeting held at the Redwood Estates fire station on July 30, 2024, and are currently working with them to remedy the situation on Mt. Charlie Road.
